Moana
The title, “Moana” was chosen because in Polynesian culture, it symbolizes the ocean’s vital role in life, connecting all islands and peoples, and representing a spiritual guide.
Using the eroded whelk shell in the forefront of the resin-infused sand base as a model, the large, surreal whelk shell was constructed with paper clay. The ‘beach’ is adorned with LED lit sea glass and net floats. The stand is constructed out of faux driftwood.
The beach setting was provided by AI, as taking this large sculpt down to Puerto Rico would have been problematic!

Shells And Stones And Sea Glass, by Lois Read
I pick up
shells and stones and sea glass
wave-glazed and glossy still
on early morning beach walks
add them to those
from yesterday
which sit, shine gone
at home upon the shelf.
It seems each walk
must be remembered, marked
with pockets full of evidence
as though the moving moment
will slip out of reach
without
at tangible talisman.
Yet once the luster leaves
the sea gloss dries
the sweet kiss of salt air
has left my cheek
the pile becomes
just stones, and bits of glass
something to dust around.
Well then let us make a pact
to savor shells and glass in situ
with every other shining thing
like angel wings and fleeting loves.
Heart Pulse
Heart Pulse
A sense that there’s something more:
an inner pulse that pushes you,
an outer pulse that pulls you.
How to connect the two?
Yearnings lead up rugged mountains,
Urges propel down flowing streams.
It’s Life’s journey.
The heart knows…
The one is the Inner Spirit.
The other is the Universal All.
How do the two become one?
Time & Searching & Growing & Striving
At journey’s end and beginning,
the heart of completeness is found.
Becoming entwined, the one recognizes the other.
They are as one, but still separate and distinct.
Bound in Love, they radiate a subtle, but awesome Light.
By Paul R. Bareis

Transcendence
“Transcendence” was conceived and modeled while my mother, Marlowe, was in the final stages of Alzheimer’s Disease and was close to death. It helped me deal with my grief as I believed she’d be “transcending” to a better place. The female was actually modeled after her granddaughter, Anica, as I think we once again revert to a state of youthful innocence and bliss.
The stylized hand is that of an angel, there to vanquish all fear and aid in the transition. Multiple glass panes. upon which the soul is passing through, represents those dimensional planes that separate us from whatever lies beyond. The essence of this piece...love goes on!

Heart Space Fountain
There is a place in the heart that… will never be filled
a space
and even during the… best moments… and… the greatest times
we will know it
we will know it… more than… ever
there is a place in the heart that… will never be filled… and
we will wait… and… wait
in that space.

Blue Heron
I actually ordered this stained glass window on Etsy back in ‘21. I then asked the artist in Kansas City if I could come and assist her in its construction. Making the fine pine needles was a real challenge. This stained glass window now resides in the Star House in Crestone, CO. I wish I’d taken it with me when I moved!!! It’s approximately 24”W x 5’L.
Ascension
The dance of life culminates in the ascension above this earthly plain.
24x19x15, 10.6 lbs, ceramic, copper, epoxy clay
Available for $790.00
Two Angels
A commissioned piece honoring their two mothers.
36x20x35, 10 lbs, epoxy clay, acrylic, LEDs

Human Failings/Divine Grace
An unfinished, life-size sculpt of a starving child falling into the arms of Divine Grace. That children starve in a world of so much wealth is truly a human failing.
I was moving and didn’t have room in the truck. I wish I’d at least made a waste mold of it.
Grandpa Polson
Honoring my late grandfather, this bas relief sculpture has him smiling as he often did in life. The Pioneer Feed cap and the mounting on barn wood speak to his livelihood as a farmer. Similar pieces can be created honoring your loved one.
19x9x30, 11.4 lbs, Hydrocal, wood
Light Being
With her lightness of being, she brings Light to illuminate the darkness in the world.
17x9x24, 6 oz, steel wire
Not for sale, but I would willingly accept a commission to create a larger-than-life version that would be emblazoned with LED lights. It would make a stellar installation during the winter holidays.

Denial of Life
The struggling soul refuses to see the inherent beauty in life. Meanwhile, the large, oversized, and loving hand of God attempts to comfort the distraught soul.
Not for sale.
